Money Belongs in the Vehicle, Not in the Driver’s Seat
There’s a phrase we come back to often on this team: money is always in the vehicle, but it’s never in the driver’s seat. A business needs revenue the way a car needs fuel and an engine, without it, nothing moves. But fuel doesn’t decide where the car goes. That decision belongs somewhere else.
When money climbs into the driver’s seat, it starts making the calls it was never meant to make. It recommends the plan with the better commission instead of the better fit. It keeps a conversation going past the point where the honest answer was already given. It turns a client’s need into a means to an end. None of that requires a bad person, just a business that let the wrong thing steer.
Keeping the client’s needs in the driver’s seat looks different, and sometimes less profitable in the short run. It means recommending less coverage when less is genuinely enough. It means telling someone to wait a year rather than sign today. It means treating the relationship as the point, and the paycheck as the byproduct of doing that well, not the other way around.
That order of priorities is what we’re building our name on at Elevate Life Team, and it’s a big reason clients stick around long enough to become referrals. If you want to be part of a team that keeps its priorities in that order, we’d love to talk about what that looks like as an agent on our team.
